Replace Background lets you change the background of an image while keeping the main subject intact. You can describe a new background using text or provide a reference image.

What Replace Background Does

  • Automatically separates the subject from the background

  • Replaces the background while preserving the subject’s shape and details

  • Supports text prompts or image references

  • Blends lighting and perspective naturally


How to Replace the Background

1. Open the Image

You can replace the background of:

  • A generated image

  • An uploaded photo

  • An image from your threads

Click the image to open it in the editor.

2. Select Replace Background

In the toolbar or homepage:

  1. Click Replace Background

  2. The Replace Background panel will appear

3. Choose How to Define the New Background

You have two options:

Prompt

  • Enter a text description of the background you want

  • Example prompts:

    • “A sunny park with trees”

    • “Minimal studio background”

    • “City street at night”

Image

  • Upload or select an image to use as the background reference

  • The subject will be placed into the new scene automatically

4. Apply and Review

  • Click Confirm

  • The background is replaced while the subject remains unchanged

  • Review the result and retry if needed

Each successful replacement counts as one action.


Tips for Best Results

  • Describe lighting and environment for more natural results

  • Use simple prompts for cleaner backgrounds

  • If edges need cleanup, use Inpaint or Eraser

  • Combine with Crop or Expand for better framing


Credits & Usage

  • Replacing a background costs 5 credits per successful result

  • Credits are deducted only if the replacement completes successfully

  • Failed or interrupted attempts do not consume credits


Troubleshooting

The background doesn’t match the subject lighting

Try adding lighting details to your prompt (e.g. “soft daylight”, “studio lighting”).

The result isn’t what I expected

Try simplifying your prompt or switching between Prompt and Image mode.

  • Remove Background – Create a transparent cutout

  • Inpaint – Refine subject edges or details

  • Expand – Add more space after replacing the background

  • Adjust – Final color and lighting polish
